About Us

Where steady habits begin

We believe a calmer relationship with money starts not with a formula, but with honest self-reflection and small, repeatable routines.

Our Story

Tenang started with a question

In 2019, a small group of facilitators working in adult education noticed something: a lot of people in Kuala Lumpur were quietly anxious about money — not because they lacked information, but because they had too much of it, delivered too fast, too loud, and too focused on outcomes rather than process.

The question they kept returning to was simple: what would it look like to slow the conversation down? To give people time to notice their own patterns, rather than rushing them toward a prescribed set of goals?

Tenang — the Malay word for calm — grew from that question. The programmes we offer today are built entirely around reflection, habit awareness, and gentle educational structure. We do not tell people what to do with their money. We help them understand what they already do, and invite them to think about what they might like to try differently.

Our Mission

Education that respects your pace

Tenang's mission is to offer accessible, non-judgmental money habits education to adults across the Klang Valley — education that is framed around building small, repeatable routines, not around prescribed financial outcomes or high-pressure targets.

All of our programmes are general educational content. We do not provide regulated financial advice, make projections about returns, or position ourselves as a substitute for qualified financial planning. What we do offer is a structured, facilitated space for self-reflection and habit exploration.

We work with adults at all income levels and at all stages of their relationship with money — from those who have never paused to examine their habits, to those actively trying to build a steadier daily routine.

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to

Because we work with people's personal reflections and financial self-awareness, we take our professional and ethical standards seriously.

General education only

Every session and all written materials are clearly framed as general habit-based educational content — not personal financial advice or counselling of any kind.

Participant confidentiality

Anything shared in group sessions stays within the group. Facilitators do not discuss individuals outside of sessions, and journals belong solely to participants.

Small, considered group sizes

We deliberately cap group sizes to maintain a reflective, unhurried atmosphere. Quality of conversation matters more than volume of participants.

Curriculum reviewed regularly

Our workbooks and session outlines are reviewed each quarter to ensure they remain contextually relevant and free of any claims that go beyond general education.

No sales pressure, ever

Facilitators are not incentivised to sell products or services to participants. Our only aim within sessions is to support reflection and learning.

Personal data protection

Participant data is collected only for programme administration and is handled in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

Our Approach

Money habits education for everyday adults in Kuala Lumpur

Tenang works from the premise that most adults already have a relationship with money — shaped over years by family patterns, daily routines, and the practical pressures of living and working in urban Malaysia. Our role is not to replace that relationship with a new one, but to offer a thoughtful, structured space where people can examine it on their own terms.

The programmes we offer in Mont Kiara draw on established adult-learning principles: reflection before prescription, experience before theory, and small consistent practice over large one-time changes. Whether someone joins a half-day workshop or commits to the eleven-week Foundations Course, the experience is shaped to move at a human pace.

Tenang serves salaried employees, self-employed professionals, small business owners, and anyone who simply wants to approach their day-to-day financial habits with more awareness and less anxiety. Our facilitators bring backgrounds in adult education and group facilitation — not in financial sales — which means the sessions stay focused on learning and reflection, not on outcomes or products.

We are based at Wisma Mont Kiara in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Mont Kiara neighbourhood — accessible from PJ, Hartamas, Bangsar, and central KL. New intake cohorts for group programmes begin on a rolling quarterly schedule; the workshop runs regularly throughout the year.
